Sophia DeVito, LMSW (they/ze)
Hi! I’m Soph.
I’ve been a therapist for six years. Before that I worked for over 10 years with kids in basically every kind of childcare setting that exists. I’m a parent of a small human. My favorite season is winter, my favorite tv show is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and my favorite author is Ursula K. Le Guin.
When I’m not therapizing or child-rearing I can be found sky-gazing, gardening, reading, napping, biking in summer, and hiking in all seasons. I help organize a small-ish monthly gathering for queer families in the Capital Region. I have been finding other ways to plug in and do my small part to push back the tide of authoritarianism and protect my family and my neighbors.
My Therapy Practice incorporates a variety of psychotherapy frameworks and orientations.
I help clients dig deep with the use of Internal Family Systems.
We build nervous system regulation with somatics-based approaches.
I collaborate with clients to explore, edit, and rewrite the stories they tell about themselves and the world with Narrative Therapy.
And when you just want to get something done we might utilize more of a coaching approach to support executive functioning.
I self-educate on and incorporate social justice frameworks such as queer theory, health at every size/body liberation, disability justice, anti-racism, and beyond. It is of the utmost importance to me that the therapeutic work we do is understood within the larger context of systems of oppression and collective struggles for liberation.
