LGBTQ+/Polyamory/Kink
I’m queer! I’m here! …to listen compassionately and understand your own particular lived experience ;)
Many of us deeply crave being not just tolerated or accepted, but being really understood in our non-normative lived experiences. And it can certainly be helpful to have a therapist who shares your identities. I also know that my particular experience of queerness, nonmonogamy, and alternative sexual practices, does not make me an automatic expert on your queerness, nonmonogamy, and/or alternative sexual practices. I ask questions, seek out resources, and strive to use what we have in common, when we have something in common, as a bridge to better understanding what we don’t.
My favorite books/resources on this topic:
“Polysecure: Attachment, Trauma, and Consensual Nonmonogamy” by Jessica Fern
